This article seems to forget that in all these cases, the Scriptures were deliberately ignored. Certain passages here and there were cherry picked, and other passages that directly condemned the actions were either ignored or straight up removed (see the Slave Bible). Yes, there have been a wide array of people throughout history who have misused pieces and parts, but never has a full reading of Scripture endorsed such practices (in fact the opposite).

The Bible was given to us by God to instruct us in all manners of our life. The prophets, Christ, and the New Testament writers agree that the Word of God is how we ought to determine things. Problems arise when we don’t do what the Bible says.
